Lake coastal planning - Plan directeur des rives du canton de Neuchâtel
Gudied by SAT (land use planning service NE) with contributions of SFFN (especially Marie Guillot-Ehret of my former service).
Intersting approach, finally linkeked to a "lake track".
Own contribution: Technical support to concept and supervision.
Forest planning, canton de Neuchâtel
Participatory forest planning approach, still on-going (here attached the chapter on silvicultual principles developed by a SFFN working group including Pascal Junod).
Land use zoning - Haut Plateau du Creux du Van
Complex planning (decisions currently still pending at the Federal Court) of a touristic area with a high biodiversity value.
Own contribution: project launching, solution development, supervision.
Best practices in wooded pastures
Between theory, rules and practice, this guide clarifies best practices adapted to the local context.
Own contribution important.
Landscape analysis of Neuchâtel
This study, of landscapes as understood in the Swiss context, served as a basis to the public contributions provided to farmers for the improvement of the scenic landscape services offered by their lands.
Local forest landscape management in Central Menabe, Madagascar
High quality PhD thesis of Clémence Dirac-Ramohavelo.
Challenges for Community-Based Forest Management in the KoloAla Site Manompana
Swiss scientists: Zora Urech, Jean-Pierre Sorg and Ruedi Felber wrote this paper. It highlights challenges faced by promoters of community forestry for rural development, in one of the poorest and most remote areas of the Eastern escaprment of Madagascar.
The "landscape approach", integrated and decentralized: 10 principles after 5 years of action research.
This scientific paper, that had an important echo, was launched during my action research with CIFOR and ICRAF. It resulted from the gathering of "real life scientists" who shared their experiences and results. This transdisciplinary approach is still being developed by applied scientists and linked to other international initiatives or trends (see for instance the "Nature-based Solutions" concept supported by IUCN and UNEP).
The Landscape Approach (2015, PBL, Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency)
At the example of The Netherlands, several institutions considered using and often adopted a landscape approach.
The landscape approach between theory and practice (Bürgi et al. 2017)
Landscape approaches need new partnerships between scientists and local or regional stakeholders. Swiss scientists (WSL, Birmensdorf; CDE, Bern University) are looking for effective implementation.
